Six Word Saturday

Excited to see family next week
This week I have been preparing for my trip. I went out to eat at JK Asian Bistro, traveled to Massachusetts to handle some business but my excitement for my trip have overwhelmed me the most. I haven't seen my mom and granny for over two years so it's going to be a tearful reunion. I won't promise that I will blog but I will update for sure when I am back.

Six Word Story

text says: Extramarital liaison ended with death. Gatsby.
Today's six word story I use m-w.com's word of the day liaison. I recently saw 2013's The Great Gatsby. I remember watching an earlier version of the novel turned movie and being bored to tears in my high school English classroom. Warner Bros did a great job revamping this story. I actually caught myself reflecting on the lessons in the movie. I do admit if they didn't cast Leonardo Dicaprio (I enjoy his recent movies) I probably wouldn't have watched.

5th Ave Fashionista Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes with Blueberry Extract Review

5th Ave Fashionista Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes with Blueberry Extract Review

The Makeup I wore that day

What the makeup towelettes looked like after I was finished taking off everything.
What my freckled face looks like after using the wipes!
Ingredients

To put it simply I would highly recommend 5th Ave Fashionista Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes with Blueberry Extract. It cost me only $3.99 from Marshalls. I ran out of my other makeup wipes a while ago and just have been using baby oil and washing my face a couple of times. When you use the wipes they are not as damp as other brands so I was wondering were they really working. I asked Bear are they working and he said yes. When I looked in the mirror I was shocked to find that it took off all my makeup especially in the eye area. I use powdered eye shadow over NYX Eye pencils. Since NYX eye pencils are creamy after applying powdered eye shadow they can be stubborn to take off.

Highlights
  • Smells good like Blueberry candy.
  • Gets the job done. No complaints with a product actually meeting the standard.
  • Doesn't sting. Either I have become tolerant of makeup remover wipes or these are really gentle because they did not sting my eyes.
  • Affordable. $3.99 for 60 at Marshalls. $7.99 online at globalbeautycare.com.
  • Ph Balanced
  • Hypo-Allergenic

'Cocaine is Hell of a Drug': It may curb body's ability to store fat

The following information popped in one of my ScienceDaily's subscriptions a few days ago. I found the information interesting (cocaine stereotyped as the drug of choice for famous models and other celebs) so I thought I would share.
Text says: "The scientists found that cocaine use may cause profound metabolic changes which can result in dramatic weight gain during recovery, a distressing phenomenon that can lead to relapse. It was previously widely believed that cocaine suppresses the appetite and that the problematic weight gain during rehabilitation was a result of patients substituting food for drugs." source: sciencedaily.com

Supernanny, Why Men Love Bitches, How to Write a Damn Good Novel
I have been saving parenting books in my amazon wish list for a while. Supernanny wasn't on my list but it being brand new I don't care! I will be reading it soon and discussing the information with the parents I know for feedback.
I have heard Sherry Argov, the author of Why Men Love Bitches on internet talk radio interviews. It was like she was reading my mind when it comes to interacting with men. I saw this book and decided to buy it. I have read a few pages and agreed. This is one of those books I am not in a hurry to read since I'm pretty much satisfied where I am at now. I am going to keep it for other people to borrow though.
How to Write a Damn Good Novel is one that has been on my amazon wish list for a while. I first saw a copy of this book in the Pittsburgh Library three years ago. The copy I bought isn't close to being new. It has that old used book smell but since I wanted the book. I don't regret my purchase.

Joy of Cooking, How to Sell More in Less Time with No Rejection Using Common sense Telephone Techniques
I have been wanting a Joy of Cooking book for years. I was going to get a Joy of Cooking book eventually when I have children but since I am child free I didn't want to pay the steep price. Lucky me, I got it for 3.00!! It's a 1980 edition which is great because it's closer to the edition my grandmother has. I find it kinda cool and funny that the book is older than me and it's like new. It has some writing from the person who gifted the book but I'm still happy with this buy.
'How to Sell More...' book I bought for information. It's old but I think some of the ways can be adapted for internet customer service lines.
The Daring Book for Girls
I have seen The Daring Book for Girls book at Barnes and Nobles and thought it was cute. I have a niece and I will be giving this to her when I see her. She is too young to read it but her mother can still guide her with the book.

What books have you bought on a bargain lately?

Lucky Star Kitchen Chinese Takeout Restaurant Review

Beef and Broccoli
Lucky Star Kitchen is a take out restaurant in Parsippany, New Jersey. I have been here twice, once in late summer 2012 and the last visit was last week. My first impression of the place was that it was subpar.
Shrimp with Lobster Sauce
When I was traveling to Parsippany again I wanted Chinese food. We stopped here again. I was reluctant because I knew it wasn't the best but I really wanted Chinese so I went along with it. I ended up ordering Beef and Broccoli and Bear had Shrimp with Lobster sauce. My broccoli was yum even with the mediocre sauce however the beef not so much. Do you know of the quick sale meat at the grocery store that is seconds from being spoiled that you have to cook as soon as you get home? When you forget to cook it the day you bought it, a day or a few days later the old meat tells on you when it's finally cooked even with seasoning.  Well that old meat I'm talking about that's what it tasted like. He was disappointed in only getting 4 shrimp in a tub of sauce. I didn't try the sauce because after a few bites of my meal I wasn't feeling like eating any more of there food. Bear being really hungry from not eating before gobbled the Beef and Broccoli up. He said the beef didn't taste funny so maybe it was just me. With two visits in with the same result (subpar at best) it should be no surprise that I will be skipping this takeout if I ever find myself in Parsippany, New Jersey again.

Ten Word Review:
Subpar at best, not worth the seventeen bucks we spent.
