Why You Should Go Offline on a Regular Basis - 'Online Time Can Hobble Brain's Important Work' - Graphic and Memes

If you need some motivation to cut down on your online time or want a tip that may help improve your memory read along!!!
Text on graphic says:
Did you know that a typical session of social media browsing can easily hobble your brain by information overload?! The result is less information gets stored away in your memory!!
According to Science Daily:
"While you are browsing online, you could be squandering memories -- or losing important information.

Contrary to common wisdom, an idle brain is in fact doing important work -- and in the age of constant information overload, it's a good idea to go offline on a regular basis, says a researcher from Stockholm's KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Erik Fransén, whose research focuses on short-term memory and ways to treat diseased neurons, says that a brain exposed to a typical session of social media browsing can easily become hobbled by information overload. The result is that less information gets filed away in your memory." Read  more here.

This is terrible, isn't? How else will I distract myself and procrastinate if I cut down on the internet? Darn! LOL Since I want to improve my already impaired memory I have no option but cut down. On the other hand cutting down might help me blog more. I can see myself using blogging as an excuse to browse since you know I am in need of constant great but fresh material.
Below I use memes to reflect my personal life in relation to the above information.*ahem ahem*
hour on japanese and it's gone southpark meme
text says: "Hour on Japanese, 5 minutes on facebook later and it's gone"
Getting nerdy with it...
fml learning japanese pie chart meme
text says: FML learning Japanese.
By red: What I remember after five minutes of browsing internet.
By green: How much Japanese I studied.
Yes, I made a pie chart. It isn't scientific based as in I didn't do a study on myself but I think it's pretty accurate even if it was created for comedic purposes, lol.

Do you often find yourself forgetting something important a session of browsing the internet? If so, tell.

Nitty Gritty Stats about Blogging [ INFOGRAPHIC]

Reading this chart I realize that I am a 'The Hobbyist blogger' but then again I don't even think I'm that. I lack discipline which reflects in my spurts of blogging, lol. Regardless of how busy or depressing my life can be at times I know I can afford to blog almost everyday but I don't because I usually don't feel like it. However like I have admitted many times before I do enjoy it and feel a sense of accomplishment after every blogpost.

Six Word Saturday

CRABBY... Key Lime cake is ambrosial.

Well you could probably guess what time of the month it is. Aches, pains, soreness, occasional headache and this week I have been having elevated episodes of insomnia. Happily last night at 4:00 A.M. I finally could lay down with out waiting a long period of time before drifting into slumber. Can't wait until the lady in red leaves! I'm enjoying having the extra energy and time though.

How has your week been?

'Carbonation Alters the Mind's Perception of Sweetness' - Science Daily [Graphic]

'Carbonation Alters the Mind's Perception of Sweetness' - Science Daily [Graphic]
"Carbonation, an essential component of popular soft drinks, alters the brain's perception of sweetness and makes it difficult for the brain to determine the difference between sugar and artificial sweeteners, according to a new article in Gastroenterology, the official journal of the American Gastroenterological Association"

Benefit is that with the right combination of artificial sweetener and sugar they can offer tasty low calorie soft drinks which could be an advantage for weight loss efforts.

The disadvantage is that "the combination of carbonation and sugar may stimulate increased sugar and food consumption since the brain perceives less sugar intake and energy balance is impaired. "

With this said I'm taking this information to let me know that when I'm drinking a soft drink I have to be aware that my brain might be getting tricked to drinking more sugary drinks and eating more food. Myself, I'm not too hot on artificial sweeteners but if this is true with the right combination of sugar I wouldn't know I am drinking artificial sweeteners anyways, lol.

In your eating regimen, do you consume beverages with artificial sweeteners? How do you plan to use this information to benefit you?

Quote of the Day

Text says:
"Temptation is a woman's weapon and man's excuse."H. L. Mencken

My commentary:
On one hand there is will on the other there are manipulative people so I guess I'm leaning to agreement on this quote but I'm still pondering on this one.

Do you agree? Disagree? Discuss.

I love making graphics for my blog posts but I'm debating when in the time of day I should post the quote of the day. I'm thinking maybe later in the evening but I don't know. I will think about it some more.
