Six Word Saturday + Athletic Wear Haul


Almost abandoned Japanese....feeling the burn.

So earlier in the week, in Monday's Time to Workout post I told you that I was going to try limiting my phone time. Well I did but I found myself distracted by other things. I haven't been studying Japanese*, reading or my other tasks I took on as an attempt to improve myself.  This break of my phone made me realize just how dependent I am on it. I write notes, listen to audio books, use learning tools all on my phone as well as a lot of other stuff. What I used to do on my laptop (when it worked oh so long ago!) I do now on my phone. Thinking about it this isn't a bad thing though. 
I personally know I just have to practice more self discipline on not getting distracted. The funny thing is that when I get distracted it's often that I deem the thought/s as constructive in the moment but it ends up delaying the task at hand. I will get better on making notes and returning back to the task instead of just excusing my self to go follow the thought.

What I have been up to in my free time though is working out. There have been a few days I did about two work out sessions of 20-30 minutes each instead of just one.  I'm going to gradually work on incorporating ankle weights into the more intense videos. Wish me luck!

I only got three outfits this time which is enough for now. I'm saving to wear these for the gym. I can easily wear whatever at home. Next on my list are free hand weights, exercise ball and a cell phone holder for my hips.






*I watch a lot of subbed anime. I thought it would be smart to learn Japanese so I could multitask more efficiently while watching anime. I also read that learning a foreign language helps improve your memory which is why I wanted to learn a foreign language in the first place.

Time to Workout - Discipline Quote - Video

I hate doing push ups. I just hate them. When it was time to work out the other day I was debating on what I should chose. I ended up choosing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred: Level 1. I knew there was going to be push ups. I also knew that I needed that upper body work out. So although I knew I was going to hate it, I ended up doing it anyways. 
When it comes to discipline sometimes I struggle when it comes to doing stuff I know I don't want to do but need to do. I haven't met my fitness goal but I am establishing a habit of doing that is going to get me there. As time goes by making time and just doing it is getting a lot easier.  I look forward to working out. The discipline I needed to do so doesn't take much of  my will now. The sense of accomplishment I get from finishing my exercise makes a great motivator to just do as well.
If you are going to arrive where you want to be, if you are going to accomplish what you tell your self is your goal you are going to have self discipline. You are going to have to control your urges to procrastinate, distract and make excuses. While you are doing the act/s that getting you close to your goal you are going to have to stop your self from quitting and putting in half ass effort. You are going to have to keep coming back for how long and how often it takes to get you closer until you eventually meet your goal. You are going to have to adapt. The great thing is that once you make it a habit it gets easier to just do it . However first you have to make it a habit. That means you are going to have one day where you begin and then a schedule which will continue until you meet your goal.
I know it's in you. You already have come this far we both know you have the strength in you to go farther.

For this video, I recommend:

  • Yoga mat.
  • Space. Need enough to wear you can stretch out your arms while laying down. As well enough for your body laying down flat on the ground.
  • Exercise Ball/s.
  • Weights.

Time to Workout - Motivational Quote - Video

Fitness motivational quote Edward Stanley So it was my boyfriend's birthday or how some people say birth anniversary. I turned off the phone to give undivided attention and we celebrated the date he was born on this earth. It was enjoyable, spending all day with him and even napping together. It wasn't until later when I decided that it's time for bed that knowing that I didn't workout bothered me. So you already know what I did I decided to workout. 
The video below is ten minutes. You spend more than ten minutes lollygagging on your phone on a game, a social app or reading an article that is although informative isn't really going to help you immediately.
You know you have ten minutes in your schedule so get to it. Even if you don't feel like it we both know you will feel way better because the next ten minutes of exercising will get you closer to your goal. If you have it in you push yourself another ten minutes or maybe 20 minutes of exercise afterwards.

For this video, I just recommend space, there are no floor exercises but you do move side to side. I didn't do this video with my ankle weights. During the one commercial break I just did squats.

January Jumpstart Cardio Shape up

Since I enjoyed the phone off time so much I'm going to do an experiment in the next couple of days. I'm going to have my phone off and spend time minimum casual time on the internet. I'm only going to permit myself to blog Time to Workout but that's it. I'm curious to see what I think a couple of days from now. I have done this before I just haven't documented my awareness of my phone time off.

Time to Workout! - Motivational Quote - Video

Motivational quote Peter DruckerSaturday, I wanted to cheat. I was going to work my ass off burning it off but I wanted to cheat. I wanted to bite into some caramel apple deliciousness with sprinkled peanuts on it, hell I still WANT to but sadly I can not. There were 8 apples in the container and one was eaten but not by me. Talk about #fml ,lol. I'm miserable. My boyfriend ate one and the gnats violated the rest a day later. I was down for a moment just thinking about it. For a brief moment, I lost my motivation to even work out but then I decided I might as well. It is the weekend and I do have the time. I have the energy as well since I had a pretty good sleep last night and nothing has mentally drained me so no excuses!

Although I temporarily lost my motivation for a workout I still did it in the end. If I want to meet my goals I'm going to have to do like the man says and create it. Even when I wanted to pout because my caramel apples were ruined I still had to do it for the future I want. 
( I was going to do way more than this video to work off the caramel apple by the way!)

For this workout I suggest:
  • Weights. The instructor uses hand weights in the video. I just used the extra pair of ankle weights I had as a substitute.
  • Space. There are some moves that I didn't have enough space to do it exactly like she did so I found myself altering the move to 'do it right'.
  • About 30 Minutes.

So what are you waiting for? You are only going to get to where you want to go by taking the actions required to get there so get to it and create your future.

For this workout I had my ankle weights on. During the breaks I ran in place and at the last break I just did some squats. Also followed this up with an abs video.
